Mooresville, NC (August 31, 2013) – Reed Sorenson went to his home state of Georgia this past weekend to race in the Great Clips-Grit Chips 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday. Sorenson’s weekend began with an hour and half long practice session on Friday, the No. 40 Curtis Key Plumbing Camaro went through a number of long runs to get Sorenson the feel he needed to race the fast 1.5 mile quad oval. After working with different set up approaches, the team felt good about the race.
Saturday morning began with final practice then later in the day qualifying; the Curtis Key Plumbing Camaro would go out in 13th spot and qualify in the 25th position. From the drop of the green flag, Reed started out neutral and able to maintain in the top 25 through the first couple pit stops and make the changes needed to improve.
Reed radioed that the car was getting better and moved inside the top 20 at halfway as the first round of green flag pit stops occurred.
The No. 40 Curtis Key Plumbing Camaro finished the Great Clips-Grit Chips 300 in 21st place. The Motorsports Group next race is at Richmond International Raceway on Friday September 6 under the lights.
