Mooresville, NC (May 13, 2013) – This past weekend’s Sport Clips 200 at Darlington Raceway on Friday night was filled with hard racing and excitement. After a solid 18th place finish the week before at Talladega Superspeedway. Wise’s weekend began with one 2 hour practice session on Friday, the No. 40 Curtis Key Plumbing Camaro went through a number of long runs to get Wise the feel he needed to race for 200 miles around the egg shaped 1.366 mile track. After working with different set up approaches, the team felt good about the race and didn’t want to over adjust the car for the night time race.
Friday afternoon began with qualifying, where the No.40 Curtis Key Plumbing Camaro would go out in 13th spot and qualify in 22nd.
From the drop of the green flag, Wise’s Chevrolet started out tight and able to maintain in the top 25 through the first pit stops and make the changes Josh needed. The driver radioed that the car was getting better and moved inside the top 20 at lap 40. Lap 51 #11 car spins and brings out the caution .Gary Showalter and team began to fine tune the handling getting Wise up to 19th off pit road. Josh avoided a spinning car in turn 2 and slapped the wall earning his Darlington stripe mid part of the race.
The No. 40 Curtis Key Plumbing Camaro finished the Sport Clips 200 in 21st place. Darlington was the last race for Josh Wise in the 40 as Reed Sorenson returns to TMG after filling in for Michael Annett in the Pilot Flying J Ford. The Motorsports Group has a weekend off before heading to Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 25th for the History 300.
