Josh Wise Survives The Lady in Black

Darlington Raceway

Mooresville, NC (May 13, 2013) – This past weekend’s Sport Clips 200 at Darlington Raceway on Friday night was filled with hard racing and excitement. After a solid 18th place finish the week before at Talladega Superspeedway. Wise’s weekend began with one 2 hour practice session on Friday, the No. 40 Curtis Key Plumbing Camaro went through a number of long runs to get Wise the feel he needed to race for 200 miles around the egg shaped 1.366 mile track. After working with different set up approaches, the team felt good about the race and didn’t want to over adjust the car for the night time race.

Friday afternoon began with qualifying, where the No.40 Curtis Key Plumbing Camaro would go out in 13th spot and qualify in 22nd.

From the drop of the green flag, Wise’s Chevrolet started out tight and able to maintain in the top 25 through the first pit stops and make the changes Josh needed. The driver radioed that the car was getting better and moved inside the top 20 at lap 40. Lap 51 #11 car spins and brings out the caution .Gary Showalter and team began to fine tune the handling getting Wise up to 19th off pit road.  Josh avoided a spinning car in turn 2 and slapped the wall earning his Darlington stripe mid part of the race.

The No. 40 Curtis Key Plumbing Camaro finished the Sport Clips 200 in 21st place. Darlington was the last race for Josh Wise in the 40 as Reed Sorenson returns to TMG after filling in for Michael Annett in the Pilot Flying J Ford.  The Motorsports Group has a weekend off before heading to Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 25th for the History 300.

Josh Wise drafts with Jeremy Clements

(Mooresville, NC) May 5, 2013- After starting 39th at Talladega Superspeedway in the AARON’S 312 on Saturday Josh Wise and Jeremy Clements wasted no time hooking up and moving through the field.

After the first caution at lap 15 Josh came in for fuel and tires restarted 25th and from that point Josh stayed in the draft, on lap 94 Wise drove through the turn 3 pile up involving 11 cars, spotter Bob Jeffrey guided Josh through and escaped with no damage and that set up a shootout as NASCAR cut the distance to 107 laps instead of the full 117.

Coming to the checkered flag the #40 Curtis Key Plumbing Chevrolet was 15th and in front of Josh the #11 and #20 started wrecking, Josh had nowhere to go and hit the #99 of Alex Bowman hard and put the #40 with a 18th place finish.
